Wines of the month

Perfect pairing wines to suit all tastes.   Welcome to a brand new column that showcases Cayman’s sommeliers and their favourite picks for the month. We begin with Kyle Kennedy, Sommelier at the Brasserie restaurant.
Kyle says that ever since he chose food and wine as a career path he has been eager to do something different, create his own path, and deliver genuine hospitality.
“My restaurant experience started when I was 14 years old in the kitchen of a small family owned pizzeria in Grove City, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus,” he explains. “My fine-dining front of the house experience began shortly thereafter and my passion for genuine hospitality and food and wine pairing has never been greater.
Kyle has traveled extensively, to Spain, Italy, France, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and beyond, giving him a deep appreciation of the culture that food and drink have created over time.  After his travels he began studying wine as a career and has since become a Certified Sommelier by The Court of Master Sommeliers as well as a Certified Specialist of Wine by The Society of Wine Educators.
“Furthermore, I am currently pursuing more challenging education in all areas of the beverage world and specifically how they interact with food.  I also have experience bartending and I love creating seasonal cocktail menus that showcase the local produce with creative presentations and delicious results,” he adds.
At The Brasserie he plans to create special and fun events, such as wine dinners, among other ideas and focus on the fun side of wine.
“I think it is very important to get involved in the local community and I welcome all ideas to bring that atmosphere to The Brasserie on a daily basis.  We at The Brasserie hope to see you soon.”
