According to experts in New Zealand, a glass of wine a night may not be so good for the heart after all.  Clinicians in the latest New Zealand Medical Journal say they have found the benefits alcohol has on the heart when drunk in moderation are over estimated.

Otago Medical School senior lecturer Dr Jennie Connor says recent more careful critique of past medical studies has shown the results were too generous.

She says a drink a night should not be promoted as good for health because quite a lot of the people who have a drink a night will start to drink even more.

Connor encourages people who want to look after their heart to use the appropriate medication.
