Take drive through West Bay and out to a very special lagoon nestled in the heart of a bird sanctuary and you will find the prize of a restaurant that is called Pappagallo, an idyllic location in which to hold a very special Christmas gathering. The restaurant is beautifully decorated for December to capture the holiday spirit in style.
The restaurant is divided into separate special venues that uniquely cater to a wide selection of social gatherings, making it a sensible choice for any type of Christmas party. The Observation Deck overlooks the pond that surrounds the restaurant and is used primarily for cocktail parties of up to 150 guests standing. The Pappagallo Room is the smallest and most intimate of the three main dining areas and has a seating capacity of between 40 to 55 people, perfect for small office parties. The Flamingo Room is able to seat between 70 and 80 people but it is adjacent to the Garden Patio, which can open up and create one large room that seats more than 160 people. The Garden Patio is screened in and situated on the edge of the water, a truly unique spot with unparalleled views.
Gerardo is the restaurant’s manager and says they have over 25 years experience in entertaining in Cayman so they are well-versed in organising that perfect party. Gerardo says: “We are on hand to help guests organise informal cocktail parties all the way through to elaborate venues, and we can either cater your party actually at Pappagallo or at your home or office also.”
The restaurant itself can cater up to 225 to 250 on site depending on the specifics of the venue and Gerardo says they like to customise the menu according to their customers’ preference, including buffets, sit down dinners and finger food.
Pappagallo is well-known in Cayman as one of the finest restaurants around, concentrating on Italian food of the best quality. Its party menus remain on the high quality level and include a wide selection of delicious hot (CI$2.25 per person) and cold (CI$2.00 per person) hors d’ouvres for cocktail receptions, speciality hors d’ouvres at varying prices, three course lunch and dinner menus starting at CI$32 per person (dinner) and CI$22 (lunch) and buffet menus for lunch and dinners as well (starting at CI$34 per person for dinner, CI$27 for lunch).
Gerardo says their service is really flexible: “During Christmas we cater from small offices party to big local companies. We can provide a DJ or live band on request and we have a large selection of local talent for every occasion. We also provide specialty linen, centre pieces and festive accents and we also work with a local décor company to create unique events.”
