Responding to demand

Consumers have sent a resounding message to suppliers that they demand the same quality they have come to appreciate and desire…for a lot less.

There has been a trend for the past couple of years and it’s definitely tied to the recession. Consumers want more for less and it makes sense to force more aggressive pricing on suppliers because competition is out there. Manufacturers all duplicate superior products, offering them for less anyway, so why not beat them by creating your own new market share?

In response to the consumer demand, IDG has spent the past 18 months developing a collection of their most celebrated name brands that will have the same quality and brand name for significantly lower price points. That is substantial when you consider the quality and workmanship that drove these companies to longevity and respect in the industry to begin with, are now offered at over half the price.

The manufacturers will continue to offer their higher-end original designs to cater to consumers. However, now they will simply recreate their own pieces with slightly modified dimensions and fabrics that are not so dear but have the guarantee and satisfaction associated with their brand. The key is, it’s still the Cadillac that sets them apart from the rest, and that makes a huge difference to the consumer.
