Cayman slips down global ranking

As a ranking of competitiveness, the GFCI does not rank the size of a jurisdiction or the number of assets that jurisdiction has under management. The Index is compiled from the responses of individuals working in financial centres across the globe, all of whom are quizzed on their thoughts on the competitiveness of financial centres with which they are familiar. The Index employs groundbreaking mathematics to ensure that the figures are a proper representation.

The compilers also take into account a slew of instrumental factors which influence the ratings of each jurisdiction depending on the key area. For example, it looks at the FT’s Executive MBA Global Rankings (people), The Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom (business environment), the Milken Institute’s Capital Access Index (market access), KPMG’s Competitive Alternatives Survey (infrastructure) and the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index (general competitiveness).
